In a nutshell

This role has primary accountability to lead, motivate, engage and co-ordinate all areas of the operation on the day. Both in-source and outsource, to make sure they are well briefed, prepared aligned in delivering the Virgin Atlantic Airways (VAA) service together.

An experienced and strong leader you will provide operational management and direction for all aspects of the VAA airport operation, to:

  • Ensure delivery of consistently outstanding customer experience (with safe, secure and on time performance) in accordance with procedures and policies. Helping to make Virgin the most loved travel brand and deliver on NPS targets.

Day to day

  • Preparing and planning ahead for the operational day considering environmental implications to make can-do decisions safeguarding customer experience and our operation
  • Accountable for effective disruption management, mitigating/limiting potential impact to our customers journey
  • Daily accountability of reaching OTP and revenue targets. You will own the tactical calls and briefings with key partners
  • To cover weekly operational meetings with 3rd party suppliers to review performance and put corrective actions in place
  • Step in for APM where required, chairing monthly meetings both internally and with external 3rd parties
  • Ensure all VAA corporate safety and security processes and procedures are followed at all times. Driving a safe and secure culture.
  • Financially astute you are responsible for ensuring Vendor delivery of contract to agreed Service Level Agreements
  • To collate information from multiple internal and external sources e.g. IOCC, Airport Authority and Turnaround Coordinators you will evaluate to make the right decisions for the operation at the right time.
  • To build and maintain relationships with counterparts at the airport and other key stakeholders and third party suppliers
  • Ensure contractor resourcing and performance is monitored and quality checked. Building productive working relationships so that the service delivered by the vendor staff is indistinguishable to that of VAA employees

  • Excellent conflict resolutions skills
  • Emotional resilience – remains effective under pressure
  • Adept at planning and organising at a tactical level
  • Exposure to working with complex data - assimilates data quickly and uses it to build decisions and brings it to life
  • Advantageous to have an understanding of above and below wing and ramp experience.
  • To be able to gain & hold a MAN ID for both landside & airside activities in line with security background checks
