No two days are the same in operations; we are constantly working to ensure we have everything in place to guarantee the safe and efficient running of our operation. This role will require you to work to an extremely high standard, often under strict time deadlines and excepting that at times requirements may change quickly. That being said, this role is as rewarding as it is varied. In addition to industry leading travel benefits, you will also have the opportunity to work with multiple stakeholders across Virgin Atlantic, Delta, Air France-KLM and play an active role in ensuring the continued success of our operations team.

You will also be working closely with our resilience and crisis management teams, building solutions, and leading initiatives that are deployed in times of operational disruption. This will put you very much at the forefront of our operations planning processes.

Day to day

Utilise our operational data to narrate our performance, identify trends and make recommendations to inform future strategy.

Manage cross-departmental projects designed to deliver actionable insight that drive operational performance.

Evaluate existing tools, reports and processes and propose/implement changes where possible.

Play an integral role in our resilience and crisis management functions to ensure we are best placed to react to any events that may affect our operation.

About you

 

We’re looking for someone to take a hands-on approach when it comes to data, someone who can digest large amounts of data and make reasonable recommendations that will impact our business. You’ll be setting the standard using your initiative and advanced analytical skills to create new processes and develop actionable insight.

You will have an extensive data background and be comfortable working with large datasets to derive insight from disparate/varied data sources. You will need to be adaptable and comfortable with changing organisational/operational requirements.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent experience in Business, Maths, IT or Engineering and be fully proficient in the use of our business data tools including Business Objects and Excel (including data modelling and SQL connections) to build and schedule reporting outputs. Experience with complex SQL queries and object based programming languages (e.g. VBA) is essential. A working knowledge of DAX and/or PowerApps is considered beneficial but not essential.

Previous experience of data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau or PowerBI) and generating PowerPoint presentations is essential for this role as our work is often presented to senior teams and non-technical audiences.
