As a leader within the Business Resilience function, you will provide strategic leadership of Virgin Atlantic (VAA) crisis management team to respond to any event that could disrupt our operations, customers or people. This will put you very much at the forefront of our operations planning processes.

A driver of process, you will have a broad cross functional remit to ensure every part of our organisation can respond to major events (both operational and non-operational events).

Day to day

Direct a coordinated can-do approach to handling incidents working in the best intention for customer and the business.

Develop and maintain corporate business continuity and emergency response plans to handle incidents affecting the Company’s aircraft, people and/or operations.

Ensure the Crisis Management Centre are in constant readiness, providing training and briefings to all required stakeholders, arranging and initiating emergency exercises.

Working with other business leads to ensure their own departmental plans are frequently updated and fit for purpose

Educate and work with leaders across the business to ensure that internal structures and external third-party supplier contracts contain an appropriate level of business resilience and Service Level Agreements.

Deliver Support Team training to the airline’s 200+ humanitarian assistance volunteers and 50+ Business Resilience Champions to craft a global cross functional response team in the event of a major incident.

Lead with other Virgin Group companies, Joint Venture partners and airline industry leaders to develop plans and influence external business members to work collaboratively in the interests of the industry.

Lead cross-departmental projects designed to deliver actionable insight that improves decision-making and drives business performance.

Use operational data and incident debriefs to ensure there is a continuous programme of learning across all key points of contact (both internal and external).

Deputise for the Head of Ops Process & Resilience as required at all levels within and outside the Company.

24/7 "on call" rotation and frequent overseas travel.

Representing Virgin Atlantic’s interests at industry and Joint Venture meetings.

About you

We are looking for experience and confidence in decision-making under challenging and stressful circumstances to reach outcomes on operational, commercial and financial issues arising during non-routine operations.

Educated to degree level (or equivalent), with a wealth of experience  in an operational environment coupled with knowledge in other areas e.g. commercial, customer and compliance would be advantageous.

A strong commercial awareness, the ability to see “the big picture” and capability to mediate to reach agreed outcomes are desirable.

To succeed in this role you will need to be a confident collaborator and be comfortable working within tight deadlines and pressure, with all areas of our business.
