In a nutshell

We are seeking a Company Medical Advisor to provide occupational and aviation medical services to Virgin Atlantic Airways and Virgin Holidays.
 
You will provide specialist occupational and aviation medical services to the airline on a range of topics in accordance with regulation, legislation and best practice. This advice will be delivered across the breadth of our organisation in areas that may impact our people, passengers or our operation.

Day to day

The role includes but is not limited to;
 
Advising on OH strategy, policy, risk management and industry specific challenges as well as supporting quality improvement in this SEQOHS accredited service.
 
The clinical scope includes statutory class one pilot medicals and case management, cabin crew initial and periodic assessments, occupational health referrals and clinical support for occupational health specialist practitioners.
 
Additionally, you'll deliver medical support to the passenger medical clearance process.
 
You will have a naturally collaborative style working with other OH team members, including nursing and administrative staff, with safety groups and managers across the departments. You will be accountable for ensuring that aviation medicine specialist information and delivery is fit for purpose, compliant with all current legislation and communicated to all relevant areas of the business. Leading and delivering on key projects as determined and agreed within the business is also a key part of this role.
 
You'll also be liaising with industry peers, professional bodies and regulators to ensure best practice and compliance.
 
Our minimum level of requirements is as follows:
 
GMC Registered Medical Practitioner with a licence to practice
 
On the Occupational Medicine Specialist Register
 
UK CAA Class 1 AME
 
Diploma in Aviation Medicine or significant aviation medicine experience over and above routine pilot fitness assessment e.g. previous airline experience

You will have extensive experience in both occupational and aviation medicine. Confident, competent and commercially minded, you'll be capable of developing effective working relationships within an OH team and with stakeholders at all levels within a complex organisation. As an empathetic listener and capable of working calmly in a busy role, you'll be used to changing priorities. You will be a clear communicator, influencer and negotiator and will be flexible and adaptable.
