In a nutshell

In this role you'll provide strategic leadership on digital delivery and technical optimisation for Virgin Atlantic Airways (VAA). You'll be responsible for the running and optimising all the front Virgin Atlantic digital touch points, whilst leading VAA through complex and creative digital technical delivery and change within business functions.
 
You’ll liaise between multiple Virgin Atlantic teams (Technology, Marketing, Sales, and Revenue Management) and all aspects of the front end and the platforms that run and support it. Leading in design and development of templates, components, dialogs, widgets and workflows, you'll be responsible for the facilitation and sign of all functional and technical requirements across all VAA digital assets. This role will be the key interface into Delta Airlines for all digital development and delivery, aswell as D&D for all VAA projects where D&D is either a technical dependency or enabler.
 
You'll propose final scope for sign off into release management and all associated actions and governance and ensure projects are fully scoped and costed, delivered within budget and to agreed timescales.

Day to day

Provide senior leadership input on the organisation’s digital strategy and accountable for technical delivery and ensure that digital change programmes are delivered effectively, in line and consistent with a defined architecture roadmap and technology security standards.
 
Support partners across the wider business with programmes that have digital dependencies to ensure scope, requirements and delivery are fit for purpose and meet core business objectives.
 
Identify enablers, opportunities, constraints and implications of business development briefs and expand and find opportunities to use new developments, current systems and other assets more effectively for customers and the business.
 
Key lead in the business sign off of technical developments and solutions acting as gate keeper for new business tooling to support commercial functions.
 
Own the delivery of all changes, projects and initiatives by accurately eliciting business requirements and ensuring selected solutions meet business objectives across territories, with the responsibility for the analysis, scoping, delivery and adoption of new systems and the re-engineering of supporting business processes.
 
Acts as a key point of contact between business users and delivery teams in planning and managing business engagement and change delivery.
 
Monitor, control and report on the processes for business delivery from requirements, through development and test through to production and implement improvements as required.
 
Provide end-to-end project and programme management and oversight throughout the project life cycle from initial scoping phase, through planning, estimating & budgeting, scheduling, design & development and full implementation.
 
Lead an effective testing function to ensure that all products / solutions delivered across digital channels meet agreed and managed quality standards (including but not limited to acceptance test, user acceptance test, regression testing, supporting testing of daily ‘business as usual’ activity and in production / implementation testing and a suitable programme of test automation)
 
Ensure the blueprint for the digital architectural landscape for peripheral products and services is maintained and audited.
 
Set and manage SLA agreements with D&D owned 3rd party suppliers.
 
Lead, develop and motivate the team to demonstrate expected competencies and behaviours, with clear and meaningful objectives and measurable performance targets.
 
Focus on improving the delivery capabilities of the team and help them to develop a reputation for first class delivery and programme excellence.
 
Build a succession plan to mitigate risk to the business and develop and nurture talent within the organisation.

About you

Do you have demonstrable experience working in both the IT function and Commercial side of a business? Have you lead multi-functional technical delivery and development teams including UAT, OA, detailed design, solution design across agile and waterfall methodology? Then you could be who we're looking for.
 
With the ability to set operational and customer benchmarks to support commercial work, you'll be an enthusiastic and a can-do leader who has the ability to motivate and influence others in high pressured and fast paced environments. You'll be someone who is creative and innovative but able to operate with a pragmatic and sensible approach required within commercial organisations and have experience understanding and applying user experience standard methodology. With a deep technical expertise in web development technologies including Java Spring MVC, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, ExtJS, JSON, XML & web frameworks, you’ll have knowledge of customer data and GDPR, along with web-based business applications (Adobe, Google Analytics etc).
 
Are you able to Influence whilst working collaboratively in a matrix environment? Do you have strong facilitation skills and experience in managing senior partner relationships and interactions?
