In a nutshell

In this role you will lead and manage our inventory management team to maximise route revenue across Virgin Atlantic’s (VAA) global network. You will conduct rigorous and forensic analysis and evaluation of VAA’s route performance and competitive positioning to optimise the inventory set up of our flights.
 
Working closely with your colleagues in pricing, sales, digital and distribution, Virgin Holidays and Delta revenue management you'll coordinate cross commercial trading strategies. You will train, coach, and develop the inventory management team and provide thought leadership within Revenue Management and more widely on inventory management best practice, theory and methodology.
 

Day to day

Devise, evaluate, recommend and successfully execute plans through the team of analysts to optimize seat inventory in order to maximise VAA’s revenue performance.
 
Lead and manage the team to ensure flights are optimally set-up through constant review of inventory strategies and leveraging revenue management decision support tools.
 
Drive improved outcomes through leading the team in forensic analysis of route revenue, booking performance and the competitive landscape.
 
Develop and improve the design and use of decision support tools to minimise low/high yield spill and spoil, optimise forecast accuracy, set overbooking strategies and other key metrics to optimise VAA’s revenue production.
 
Cultivate an effective working relationship with counterparts at Delta in order to ensure alignment of inventory strategy in our joint venture.
 
Day-to-day responsibility for a team of 8 analysts, setting clear KPIs and managing team performance accordingly.
 
Identify and document best practice, coaching the team to perform at the required level to enable delivery of inventory strategies across the network
 
Lead and manage assigned projects from inception to successful implementation

About you

With expert knowledge of inventory management theory, systems and processes alongside exceptional analytical skills, you will have the ability to analyse, interpret large volumes of complex data in order to identify trends and formulate plans. You will hold an honours degree preferably in mathematics, statistics, economic, aviation or equivalent and be able to work accurately in a fast paced environment.
 
You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex messages to a variety of audiences. You will be a collaborative team player and have the ability to motivate, develop and train a team. Alongside familiarity with revenue management systems you'll be an advanced user of Excel.
