In a nutshell

As Senior Manager Internal Communications you'll partner with the SVP People, People Team and senior leaders to agree the engagement strategy, which will be aligned to priorities learned via surveys and pulse checks, our business objectives – and our overall ambition to supercharge how engaged and motivated our people feel. You'll craft communication plans and initiatives that address these priorities whilst managing a team of talented communications business partners who filter priorities from their areas up, whilst driving communications strategies aligned with overarching engagement agenda into, the areas with which they partner.
You will work seamlessly with the Snr Managers of Corp Comms and Comms Channels to ensure alignment in what we communicate, when, to whom, and through which channels.

Day to day

Define the strategy that gives purpose to all internal communications and engagement activities
Partner with the SVP People, broader Leadership Team and in lock-step with HR Business Partnering team, to agree a programme of Engagement activity that aligns with business goals.
Work with the Employee Relations team to align ER and Comms/Engagement strategies, particularly as they pertain to our Committees
Supporting Corporate Communications leads to ensure business priorities are meaningfully brought to life in all areas of our business
Partner with the HRBP team on communications strategy around the formal Engagement Survey strategy
Lead a capable team of communications partners, ensuring strategy is informed by and implemented both from the top down and the bottom up – reflecting the insights they have from the leaders and work groups they partner with
Role model engagement priorities impact-fully with this team so they meaningfully live and breathe the strategy they themselves will bring to life other areas of the business.
Lead and motivate this team by focusing on individual development programmes that will allow the team to improve continuously and thrive Collaboration and Coordination
Play a key role in ensuring communications are aligned and orchestrated across all channels and to all audiences by partnering with the Snr Manager, Corp Comms and Snr Manager, Comms Channels – as well as with the extended network of communicators at Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays
Collaborate with Marketing teams, HRBP team, Talent & Development team and where relevant, other groups that define how our brand and L&D programmes impact how our people feel about their lives at Virgin Atlantic/Holidays
Maintain active dialogue with Virgin Group partners and network, to share best practice [two-way] and implement Group-wide strategies that are important and relevant for Virgin Atlantic/Holidays Measurement & evaluation
Collaborate with Snr Manager, Corp Comms and Snr Manager, Comms Channels, to define an effective way of evaluating and measuring Impact and Involvement of Comms & Engagement strategy and activities, in order to demonstrate substantial business value of the function to stakeholders

About you

Are you educated to graduate level (or equivalent) and/or have a proven track record of working in a busy and high profile press office? Do you have experience in a role which requires writing or creating/overseeing visionary content? Then you could be the person we're looking for.
With a deep understanding of the evolving engagement agenda, you'll have previous experience of building and executing high profile internal communications, employee brands and/or employee engagement campaigns. The ability to craft and deliver presentations, whilst coaching & supporting senior leaders on presentation skills is essential for this role.
You'll be curious in techniques to motivate and engage people of diverse backgrounds and levels of experience. Excellent interpersonal skills alongside an ability to build credible relationships across a broad spectrum of people is key. It would be beneficial to have experience of employee communications in crisis communications scenarios. Possession of negotiation skills will help you ‘sell’ ideas where needed, and you'll require the aptitude to deal with and handle confidential and sensitive issues.
