In a nutshell

In this role you'll deliver integrated Internal Communications and Engagement campaigns and initiatives for Virgin Holidays. Creating a communications strategy that aligns with Virgin Holidays business objectives, you’ll also get hands on with Virgin Holidays stakeholders on day-to-day implementation, working alongside both the Corporate Communications and People teams.
The primary objective of this role will require the incumbent to be the catalyst for telling great stories that engage our internal audiences, and ensure the Virgin Holidays brand purpose is reinforced at every available opportunity. You’ll work closely with senior leaders and other business stakeholders to develop and implement imaginative communications plans which help achieve strategic objectives and the overall vision.

Day to day

Collate and implement the overall internal communications plan ensuring clarity, understanding and buy-in from all the different areas of the business with particular focus on the ongoing change and working environment programme.
Ensure the effectiveness of internal comms is measured and assessed through built-in engagement measurements.
Provide a ‘consultancy’ service for senior management in their operational divisions, working with them to develop creative and effective communication solutions.
Develop company wide and divisional communication channels, co-ordinate content and frequency of delivery
Manage a rolling internal communications content calendar in collaboration with other departments and functions across Virgin Holidays.
Oversee the maintenance of the key internal information sources used by the business with timely, engaging and accurate content.
Work with direct report on proactively sourcing news from the around the business, and editing/revising/filtering that received reactively to ensure tone of voice and style.
Work with stakeholders in the business to support any project announcements they have, ensuring key messages are communicated to the business in a timely and engaging manner using whichever channels are most appropriate.
Liaise with Virgin Atlantic Airways, VML and other group businesses as required – both to source news relevant to Virgin Holidays, and to share ours with them.
Drawing on Communications Channels experience, take responsibility for the continued evolution of our internal comms channels, ensuring we are using the best available platforms, which are fit for purpose.
Working closely with the Communications Channels team and the V-Hols leaders / managers, help to develop, deliver, embed and maintain a new suite of internal comms tools designed to drive and maintain high levels of staff engagement across the business including a new intranet, new digital staff magazine and social conversation applications.
Responsibility for delivering the quarterly staff briefing event (The Sync) including working very closely with the MD/senior management team on the creation of the presentation deck and having overall responsibility for the smooth delivery of the sessions, including all logistical/technical considerations.
Contribute to/support the planning of the annual managers conference (The Gathering) as part of a wider team including coordination of the presentation deck and logistical considerations.
Oversee smooth delivering of monthly MD breakfast staff meetings

About you

With previous experience of working in an internal or corporate communications role supporting a large, complex and often changing business environment you'll have the ability to create and execute internal campaigns that influence the full complement of internal stakeholders. Educated to at least degree standard or equivalent level you will have experience with presentation creation, good knowledge of video and PowerPoint communications tools alongside excellent communications and writing skills.
Your experience operating with senior stakeholders and managing them and their internal and external messaging is vital in this role, whilst prioritising and organising your own workload and working under extreme pressure to meet deadlines. You will be using your excellent interpersonal skills to build credible relationships across a broad spectrum of people and manage others on programmes that do not report directly to you (for example agency staff and members of other internal teams).
