In a nutshell

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Head of Digital & Distribution, reporting to the Managing Director of Cargo to join Virgin Atlantic’s Cargo department. This is fundamental role within Virgin Atlantic's Cargo organisation; focused on defining, developing and leading the growth strategy for our digital channels including web, apps, mobile web, portals, direct messaging, new technologies as well as leading Cargo’s wider distribution strategy.
 
You will be the visionary that leads on innovation and creates industry leading technology to support an ever changing cargo market.
 

Day to day

You will have a clear focus on revenue generation, performance, and customer satisfaction, with accountabilities falling into five key areas:
 
Develop the digital strategy for Cargo encompassing sales, service, communications, customer journey and lifecycle: Devise a long-term digital roadmap for Cargo, including leading the process and technology changes which will transform our customer service offering to a full self-service digital offering. You will also drive delivery of sales targets, optimisation of content, functionality and services available through all digital channels, seeking-out opportunities and collaborating with other business units to drive their implementation.
 
Lead and co-ordinate core distribution functions: lead on innovation in the digital space, identifying development of digital opportunities, whilst maintaining and optimising our core digital channels. You will inform the marketing strategy to drive revenue and conversion through digital channels.
 
Provide centre of excellence expertise: Taking responsibility for business case development, scope definition and delivery plans of all digital platform initiatives, liaising with internal stakeholders, external development agencies and Technology partners to ensure all prioritised appropriately.
 
Leadership: Provide inspirational leadership that establishes clear performance expectations in line with organisational goals. Create a high performance environment that delivers against our digital goals, and builds digital capabilities across the function, while identifying training and development needs to ensure career progression.
 
Budget Management: Determination and ongoing management of the annual CAPEX and OPEX budgets for the department. Negotiating and maintaining cost effective relationships with multiple third party content suppliers
 

About you

To succeed in this role you will have deep digital and distribution strategy and execution expertise - including proven experience of implementing innovative customer-driven ecommerce strategies.
 
A natural leader, you'll be a strong influencer, able to negotiate effectively with senior stakeholders and external suppliers/partners, whilst maintaining the collaborative and credible approach needed to ensure buy-in for our agenda. You'll have a track record of driving focus, enthusiasm and momentum into a team along with a proven ability to drive delivery and maintain a relentless focus on ROI and benefits.
 
With an analytical approach, you'll be used to evaluating complex models and data to extrapolate trends and opportunities, and able to communicate these in an accessible way. Additionally, you'll be comfortable driving decision making in a dynamic and ambiguous environment. If the above sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
