This is an exciting opportunity to join a small and diverse Inflight Services team, working with designers and multiple stakeholders at all levels of the business, external manufacturers; both domestic and overseas, shipping agents, cargo carriers and logistic providers as Executive In-flight Services Supply Chain & Product.

Reporting to the Senior Manager In-flight Services Product Supply Chain, this role is accountable for managing all activity relating to the design, manufacturing and inbound / outbound shipping of In-flight, Clubhouse and Airport stationary / print product and equipment initiatives. You will specialise in the optimisation of manufacturing processes ensuring that products are developed fit for purpose and cost effectively ensuring that sustainability and environmental considerations are taken at each stage of the supply chain process. A working knowledge of shipping Incoterms, IPR and VAT governance is preferred.

Day to day

  • Lead new product development projects from vision to delivery
  • Represent In-flight Services with regards to any activity related to new product development initiatives and projects, translating visions into products,
  • Design and implement robust product development plans with appropriate phasing and transitioning of stock levels
  • Formulate a smooth launch to new products on time and with minimal obsolescence write off costs and distributions charges
  • Ensure that VAA use sustainable products / materials and have undertaken the necessary due diligence to ensure that the suppliers and factories are aligned with required ethical and environmental policies
  • Work with the Equipment & Logistics Manager to handle the performance of all supply-chain suppliers
  • Ensure the delivery of a safe and secure operation in terms of security, food safety and all aspects of supplier activity as it relates to Virgin Atlantic Airways (VAA)
  • Own the interaction between the VAA Design and Development teams and the equipment supply community ensuring access to the widest range of products
  • Protect VAA's commercial interests.


About you

Key requirements:

  • Experience in the design and manufacturing of catering products / high volume stationary items
  • A working knowledge of Incoterms, IPR and VAT governance
  • Highly organised
  • Thrives working autonomously
  • Adept and confident in designing/delivering presentations regardless of audience
  • Excellent communication skills, establishing strong business relationships with suppliers
  • Stakeholder management experience
  • Developed analytical and decision-making skills focussed on continuous improvement / LEAN principles
  • Educated to A / AS level or equivalent
  • Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) desirable


This is a busy dynamic role and you will be agile in your approach to successfully manage several projects and contracts at a time. Working to tight deadlines you will play a pivotal role in the business to ensure successful delivery of the Equipment & Logistics Procurement Plan.
