In a nutshell

Take ownership of cabin avionics (IFE, Connectivity, and Lighting) definition work packages for VAA next generation aircraft (A350).

Lead equipment suppliers to deliver on time, to quality and to VAA internal customer specifications.

Influence stakeholders to champion best practice and on-time delivery of best product.
Forecast, manage and prepare the business for the introduction of new products with risk assessments, testing, training, and line and flight support activities.
Build trust with supplier and aircraft manufacturer, and travel on regular basis to their facilities.
Listen and display excellent interpersonal skills, defend Virgin interests with suppliers and aircraft manufacturer, defend Engineering interests across Virgin business

Day to day

Develop new product specifications and delivery of technical products in collaboration with Airline project teams.

To provide specialist technical expertise and cost of ownership information to the airline to enable effective evaluation and validation of options in respect to cabin product opportunities/definition.

Put safety and security at the heart of everything you do, prioritise accordingly and ensure that our staff, crew and passengers are safe and our operation remains in compliance.

Complete safety, compliance and airworthiness management across all VAA Cabin types within the framework of the regulatory authorities and legislation requirements including assessment of Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins, as well as completing safety investigations and risk assessments.

Effective supplier management to deliver technical solutions in collaboration with Supply Chain in line with customer expectations.

Clear communication of airline expectations and management to these expectations.
Develop good communication lines and relationships with all airline departments and 3rd party suppliers.

Conduct effective communication at all levels of the business, building good relationships and communication paths across the company to position yourself as a well-respected and highly professional individual.

About you

As a Design and development engineer, you will be detailed with a methodical and analytical approach to your work. You will have the ability to interpret differing business messages to inform decisions when dealing with supplier or internal stakeholders.

You will have experience in either an airline or manufacturing engineering, with Cabin specifically highly desirable. A working knowledge of all CAA, EASA and other national airworthiness authority regulations and experience of EASA Part 21 or Part M.

Ideally you will be educated to degree/HND in a discipline relevant to aviation, engineering or equivalent.
You will have extensive experience with dealing with suppliers, and managing project timelines and deliverables to requirements.
