In a nutshell

As an Analyst – Inventory Management at Virgin Atlantic Airways (VAA), you’ll have the opportunity to work in an exciting fast paced commercial role, where you’ll be responsible for defining and delivering our route revenue management strategies.

As part of the Inventory Management (IM) team, you will be responsible for the revenue performance of a number of VAA routes. You will analyse passenger demand by cabin for air travel, and implement revenue management strategies to ensure the best revenue return for VAA. You’ll be responsible for a multi-million pound revenue portfolio, and achieving revenue targets to support this.

Day to day

Inventory Management

Responsible for the creation and implementation of inventory management strategies to maximise route revenue performance.

Ensure flights are set-up optimally through constant and forensic analysis of route revenue and booking performance, market competitive landscape, and KPI evaluation.

Provide weekly updates to our business, including senior stakeholders, on route performance and the inventory actions taken to optimise and improve our outcomes.

Utilise, and contribute to the development of, IM best practise to ensure our processes and ways of working are industry leading.

Test demand elasticity to optimise revenue through strategic Inventory Management.

Work as part of high profile team contributing to your own and the teams continuous improvement and development.

Accountable for the analysis, creation and implementation of route strategies to support the strategic objectives of VAA and its revenue generation objectives.

Constantly review the effectiveness of Inventory strategies and system parameters, ensuring best practice is applied.

Utilise RM insight and analytic tools to drive decision and route performance, minimise low/high yield spill and spoil, optimise forecast accuracy and set overbooking strategies and other key performance metrics.

Analyse and recommend point of sale and segment strategies to key stakeholders across the business including Sales, and Marketing.

About you

To be successful in this role , you will be educated to degree level or equivalent, in a related discipline and ideally you will have relevant experience in statistics, economics, aviation or business, it is beneficial if you have familiarity with Revenue Management systems. You will be highly analytical, possess a strong commercial acumen and have excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.

You'll have practical working experience of Microsoft Office products, including the ability to use Excel at an advanced level; also well-developed numerical and analytical skills to a high standard are all essential.

If you have proven experience in communicating complex messages to a variety of audiences, can work under pressure to deadlines in a fast paced, dynamic environment, and can demonstrate experience in driving efficiency through process improvement we would like to hear from you.
