In a nutshell

This role is responsible for the provision of design, technical, compliance and project expertise in support of Virgin Atlantic (VAA) Cabin interior and / or avionic requirements.

This will include the responsibility for specification and implementation of cabin development, maintenance and modification initiatives and projects.

The role is also responsible for investigation of production and in service defects and reliability concerns and the formulation of corrective actions to drive performance, maintain safety, compliance, reliability and product delivery in a timely manner at optimum cost.

Day to day

Provide support to the operation side of the business to minimise operation delays and maximise on-board product availability and functionality.

Monitor the cabin Interior and or avionic systems for performance trends and initiate rectification activities as necessary.

Forecast, manage and prepare the business for the introduction of new products with risk assessments, testing, training, and line and flight support activities.

Develop new product specifications and delivery of technical products in collaboration with Airline project teams.

Provide specialist technical expertise and cost of ownership information to the airline to enable effective evaluation and validation of options in respect to cabin product opportunities/definition.

Integration of in service learning to new projects to produce a product to excellent quality at optimum cost.

Management of aircraft acquisition and returns requirements related to Cabins including entry into service delivery of new projects to maturity and returns activity for aircraft leaving the airline fleet.
 
Put safety and security at the heart of everything you do, prioritise accordingly and ensure that our staff, crew and passengers are safe and our operation remains in compliance.

Complete safety, compliance and airworthiness management across all Virgin Atlantic (VAA) Cabin types within the framework of the regulatory authorities and legislation requirements including assessment of Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins, as well as completing safety investigations and risk assessments.
 
Effective supplier management to deliver technical solutions in collaboration with Supply Chain in line with customer expectations.

Clear communication of airline expectations and management to these expectations.
 

About you

As a Senior Design and development engineer, you will be detailed with a methodical and analytical approach to your work. You will lead innovation and development of Cabin Solutions and propose business cases to deliver adding value activities, proving investment payback for proposed changes.

You will need exceptional communication skills, consistently liaising with all Key VAA Engineering and non-engineering stakeholders. You will continue to improve processes and support the management of the Cabin Development team, whilst working to challenging, high volume workload, under significant pressure. 

You will be educated in an engineering related degree or an EASA B1 Licence (or equivalent). Previous experience in an airline or manufacturers engineering department, specifically cabin development will be highly desirable.
