In a nutshell

The purpose of this role is to establish, operate and control the WIP accounting processes of the Group balance sheet. This role must deliver accurate, reliable and timely books of account for the VAL Group and its subsidiaries as well as oversee the operation of IFRS compliant WIP accounting.

Day to day

You will be accountable for delivering high quality, accurate, reliable and technically complete WIP accounting expertise for all entities within the VAL Group (VAA and V-Hols).

You will be accountable for all aspects of WIP accounting and high level reporting of capital projects [WIP] ensuring key judgments such as Opex/Capex and internally generated assets are accounted for in line with IFRS through appropriate analysis and challenge of the project accounts.

You will also be accountable for ensuring that a lead schedule is accurately maintained for WIP, and capitalisation occurs when the assets are ready for use, likewise projects that appear impaired should be identified as soon as possible and flagged to more senior colleagues.

You will also be accountable for the production of key schedules within the balance sheet review pack and be expected to take ownership of communicating follow up items with the rest of the FC&A and Business Partnering teams.

With respect to Financial controls you will be expected to ensure that reconciliations are kept up to date, communication channels with the rest of the department are maintained, changes to systems/accounting judgments are well controlled and accounting is performed accurately with minimal adjustments.

About you

This role requires a good knowledge of IFRS accounting standards with respect to PPE and Intangibles in particular Appreciation of management accounting and financial systems preferably Oracle financials (Oracle FA Module) with the skill to implement new systems and accounting modules.

You will also be studying towards ACA/ACCA qualification
