In a nutshell

You’ll support the continuous operation of overseas Virgin Atlantic Airways systems, primarily Airport systems, working to defined Service Level Agreements.

Day to day

Tend to problems and action assigned Work Orders captured via the Technology Helpdesk, along with direct business and 3rd party queries.
 
Resolve queries  within defined Service Levels, ensuring user satisfaction and providing 24x7 support for rapid response to incidents raised
 
Assist with the resolution on non-routine issues that may arise, eg: application performance issues
 
Identify and implement approved internal service improvements
 
Provide technical expertise and onsite support for new route start-ups, airport moves, airport closures, including the front and back office environments.
 
Ensure that changes as a result of issues and/or projects are implemented with minimal operational disruption by effective planning and communication
 
Assist other Virgin Atlantic Airways teams in evaluating and implementing new technology pertaining to Departure Control and shared systems functionality
 
Provide recommendations in the light of available solutions Assist the Airport Systems Support Manager in achieving support goals
 
Provide on-going support to application certification and development with 3rd party airport systems providers
 
Create & maintain appropriate documentation for all systems, and ensure Virgin Atlantic Airways technology inventory at airports and selected overseas locations is maintained
 
Identify training requirements as a result of projects and if appropriate liaise with the appropriate training departments to ensure needs are met
 
Understand and provide input on support contracts and Service Level Agreements
 
Keep helpdesk updated with open overseas and airport problems, and provide documentation where appropriate
 

About you

The successful candidate will need to have proven airline experience in reservation and departure control systems support with a strong working experience of supporting live airline operations. You must have strong communication skills at all levels of the organisation, and the ability to work accurately under pressure and prioritise service impacts in operational circumstances.
 
Ideally you'll have an awareness of Virgin Atlantic Airways Airport operations processes and procedures and an understanding of airport shared systems. You will need to understand how IT technology supports the overseas and airport operations business and have a thorough approach to documentation and the ability to take ownership of issues in order to drive solutions.
 
If you have the skills to learn new information quickly, excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills and can analyse issues and demonstrate initiative in resolving problems we would like to hear from you.
